In my research on Colony Collapse Disorder, to my surprise and
delight, I found a video on this very subject by one of my favorite Youtubers:

I don't
think that a short breakdown could be done better myself, as Karen has
pretty much covered the basics and more important points. Without
bees we can't make it. Plain and simple. No one knows what is
causing it, but one suspect is the chemicals being sprayed by planes for
bug control, and more specifically, an insecticide called Neonicotinoids
which are a class of insecticides that act on the central nervous system
of insects and causes them to become disoriented. These pesticides
have now been banned in Germany and strictly limited in France because of
their effect on the bees. Some believe that the increase in
population and "urban sprawl" is causing CCD because the decrease in
fields of clover leave the bees starving.
Please
look over some of the sites below and figure out what you can do to help
save the bees. Einstein said four years. That's a lot faster
than Climate Change. I don't know about you, but I see a lot
fewer bees now than when I was a kid and I live on the same block.
My cucumbers grew into long beautiful plants that are still flowering in
big bursts. Only three cucumbers got fertilized. THREE.
All that water for 3 cucumbers. I don't have much hope for more,
even though the plant is still covered in flowers. We have to do
something about the bees!!!
